SUMMARY:Develop\, pitch & promote creative ideas for a picture book for young readers: LDC Professional Development Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Led by Emily Haworth Booth \nLots of people have an idea for a children’s book but don’t know where to start… Or they like the idea of making a children’s book but don’t know where to look for or how to develop ideas. \nCome and join children’s book author and illustrator Emily Haworth-Booth for a mixture of talks and practical exercises. She will show development drawings and share insights gained from making her multi-award-shortlisted debut picturebook\, ‘The King Who Banned the Dark. ‘ \nShe’ll answer questions on the entire process from pitching to publication and beyond! You’ll leave with a jump-start to developing and selling your own story and illustrations\, as well as tips on what to expect once you start working with a publisher. \nLearn how not to sell your soul down the river and make books you love and believe in!! This workshop is open to all levels including complete beginners. \nIf you’re already working on a picturebook idea\, bring it with you – if not\, a notebook\, pencil\, and an open mind will be just fine. \nBOOK NOW \nEmily Haworth-Booth is an author and illustrator whose debut picturebook ‘The King Who Banned the Dark’ has been a Guardian Children’s Book of the Month\, a Sunday Times Book to Watch Out For\, and shortlisted for six awards including the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and Klaus Flugge Prize for the most exciting newcomer to children’s book illustration. Emily also makes comics and won the Observer/Cape/Comica Graphic Short Story Prize in 2013 for her story ‘Colonic’\, with her long-form graphic memoir shortlisted for the LDC Prize in 2018. She has taught the graphic novel courses at the Royal Drawing School for nine years and was recently described by a student as ‘the story osteopath’. Emily has an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art. Her next two children’s books will be published by Pavilion Children’s in 2020. \nwww.emilyhaworthbooth.com \ninsta is @Emily Haworth-Booth \ntwitter @emilyhb \n \nShare this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading...
